2009 Season

ARDGOWAN Club opened for the new season when, in traditional fashion, Janet Houston, wife of President Steven Houston, delivered the first bowl of the new season.

In the bright sunshine, the President welcomed his guests, members and friends to the club and wished them all an enjoyable season. The opening was followed by the usual opening day Wapenschaw

The Tuesday night Greenock and District League started with a new format. This year Ardgowan has three teams competing, the team 1 (6 rinks) will challenge for the Championship, the other two teams, each made up of three triples will compete for the triples league.

Only team 1 had a game on Tuesday night, and although the weather saw the postponement of the tie at Victoria, the games are Ardgowan were played with Victoria gaining 4 pts against Ardgowan’s 2 pts.

Congratulations to Douglas Barr and Allan Walker who have both been selected to represent Renfrewshire South in this year’s County Championship. The team’s first game is on Saturday at Ardgowan against Ayr County.

The Club once again hosted their popular Annual Open Triples Competitions. The Gents tournament, sponsored again by P B Wrights and Sons, was held on Saturday 30th May, and the ladies triples was held on Saturday 27th June.
